Currently there are 4,132 parcels that are in the lighting district. In 2000 there was 3,818 parcels out of that many ballots sent out only 23% of the property owners responded.
While over the past 7 years the Assessment Rate has gone down from $14.36 to $10.12, MID has mismanaged the accounts causing signifigant problems for the district. Maintenance costs were going up, but the assessment rates were decreasing. Average maintenance costs are $6,709.88.
The rate requested to maintain the current lighting services is $15.76 a year. That is a $5.64 increase to this annual assessment for those within the district. If a ballot procedure is held and passed the estimated yearly total for the Salida Lighting District would be $65,120.32.
